Oh how I long for my pregnancy hair... It flowed, it glistened, it sparkled, it thickened... and now it has sadly weakened...
Being pregnant served a lot of beauty benefits for me... My nails were strong and always perfectly manicured and painted a different OPI color dependent upon my mood, my skin glowed with or without the help of make-up, my hair, oh my beautiful hair, shiny and thick and long!
Postpartum hair loss began a couple of months after giving birth to Sienna... All of a sudden (when I could get in the shower!) my hair was falling out in clumps... No, I don't mean a few strands, I am not exaggerating when I say clumps! When I would be shampooing I could no longer do the pregnancy-drop-the-hair-into-the-drain move... I suddenly found myself running my fingers through my hair and discovering my hand covered like a sasquatch at the height of winter! What would I do with all of this hair falling out?! The only solution was to collect the hair, ball it up and stick it to the wall of the shower because if I let it go down the drain I would have caused a flood. Trust me when I say, the wall looked like a cat had been licking itself for at least a year only to cough up a hair ball the size of a small child... poor kitty.
Sadly, I am still suffering from postpartum hair loss! Sienna of course does add to it by ripping it out if she happens to get her hand caught in what is left of my long mane... Poor Kyle, who has a phobia of hairs, often finds mine in his underwear, in between his toes after a walk through the living room sockless, wrapped around Sienna's neck, in the shower (hey, I can't catch them all) or god forbid, in his mouth!
My hair has fallen out so much in the past several months that I am now getting completely undesired bangs... Bangs are difficult at the best of times, but when they are super short and whispy, like my regrowth is, you can't help but long for actual bangs to cover this embarrassment up! Yes, me, wishing for bangs, the ultimate hater of bangs! How many times have I grown them out and then ended up begging my hair dresser to cut them again after seeing some hot celeb with great bangs?!
I am sure you will all have noticed that my hair is so fluffy in the front that I look like I have let Sienna cut my hair with crayola scissors... you know the ones that can't even cut paper let alone hair?
Here is a photo... proof of my bizarre re-growth/fringe/baby hairs!
Has this happened to any of you?
Yup! I have a hair catcher in the bathtub that I have to clean everytime I'm done or the water won't go down! After having Joshua my hair continued to fall our in large amounts until he was 8 months old and I got pregnant with Tyler. Now it's falling out in large amounts again and I'm hoping it won't last too much longer!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just LOVE the regrowth- especially right at the front of your hair? UGGG! My hair currently looks like I cut it super short around the front hairline. But I have found a temporary helper- clear mascara! It helps keeps those little wisps in control.
My hair never got the nice pregnancy boost, I blame the fact that Adessa was born with the hair of a one year old. My hair hardly grew at all, only after she was born did my hair start to grow again. I was waiting all the time while pregnant to get the gorgeous pregnancy hair that everyone always talks about.. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteWell you should consider yourself lucky!! At least you don't have a coif!!
ReplyDeleteAdessa clearly has Tyler's Asian hair ;) Thick and shiny! I am jealous of you Adessa! Sienna is slowly getting a "party in the back", hockey hair, mullet... Very cute ;)
My fuzz bangs are ridiculous too Deb. I look like a "corn-silk cabbage patch" who has been in the toy box for a few years too many.
