What can I say? Life couldn't be better right now.
We have moved into our own place, an apartment big enough for a family of 20, with ocean and mountain views and sunrises that make me want to cry!
Siena has grown up SO INCREDIBLY much in the last few weeks since the dreaded yet simple weaning took place. She still knows what the boobs were used for in the past, but instead of just latching on in the middle of a crowded room or shopping center, she just says "boobs? Yucky?" and I say "Ya, yucky..." and she gets on with her independent self and forgets about it... No tears, no fears for this little lady.
Since we started her on the mattress on the floor next to our bed, I have been thoroughly enjoying SLEEP. Holy EFFFFFF how I missed it. We moved into our new apartment on Friday and she has slept in her OWN bedroom on her OWN bed every night. She has also slept until 7am a few times and all she needs is a little snuggle with mommy for a minute and she's back to snoozing. It's so unbelievably nice to be able to sleep next to Kyle again, ya you know, my husband, who I haven't slept alone with since before Siena was born! Kyle and I no longer have to sleep as if we were pretzels or those creepy contortionists with our arms tucked under our chests while sleeping on two square inches of bed...I no longer suffer from tennis elbow and/or a dislocated shoulder for the same reasons; Siena sleeps alone, not sprawled out between us, no more kicking us, and the days of screaming and crying for "MILKAAAAAA" are over... It's a BLOODY MIRACLE. We are all sleeping so much better now that she is finally in her own bed and in her own room! Yesterday morning she woke up at around 7:45 and I heard her door swing open and then she came stomping into the living room and said "SUNNNNY!!" while rubbing her eyes with her soother hanging out of her mouth... It was indeed very bright as the sun had just risen right into our living room :)
Another amazing thing our little lady is doing... POOPS on the potty. Well it has only happened twice in the past few days but she gets so excited when she does it!! She's such a big girl now, I don't know what happened to the baby we had!
One thing Siena is not so good at lately is sharing with our friend Sadie who comes over every day... At first they play really well and they are all lovey dovey, giving each other kisses and hugs and playing hide-and-seek, but then suddenly Siena snaps and is constantly screaming "NO, MYYYYYYYYYY BABY" to Sadie's baby... Just this morning it was a competition (well Siena made it into one) to see who could get their cups of water from me first... and when I gave Sadie hers first Siena started to cry at Sadie and say "NOOOOOO!" Then Sadie calmly stated, very matter of factly, "be nice Siena, we FRIENDZZZ!" It takes a lot of explaining but eventually it will click I am sure and she will be lovey dovey all day.
Anyways! That's my update while the two girls are having their naps and I have my feet up on our new couch!
Love to you all!
Wow that view is amazing! Where is that? I'm so glad to hear things are going well- yes, the kids grow up too fast!!!

ReplyDeletei fantasize about how when they're 18 they'll be all "ya, we've been friends since we were one"
