Since Sienna sleeps in our bed (yes, still!) and is now on the move, we now have to build a fortress around her if we are not going to bed at the same time! She does all sorts of funny/cute/pull-my-hair out things before bedtime...
Here is the break down of how we get her to sleep:
1. She is starting to rub her eyes and make whiney sounds, thus it is time for bed!
2. Give her a few ounces of formula (an attempt at getting her knocked out as formula takes longer to digest than breast milk)
3. The formula high ensues! She becomes wide eyed and waves her arms like a flapping bird (she was definitely a coo-coo bird in another life!) and giggles, and of course bites mommy any chance she gets
4. Get her to calm down by laying with her
5. Sienna flips over
6. I flip her back over
7. Sienna flips over and crawls towards the wall behind her to attempt to scale it (mountain climber in the making or perhaps a mime?)
8. Flip her back over again
9. Sienna flips over, rocks back and forth on her hands and knees, giggles
10. I flip her back over
11. She gets pissed off that I won't allow her to crawl all over the bed
12. I nurse her
13. She bites me (OUCH)
14. Soother in mouth mommy yells "KYLE!!!!!"
15. Daddy to the rescue
17. Daddy builds fortress, pulling the single bed mattress up onto the double to create a barrier, then surrounds Sienna with pillows, and our two duvets piled high to show Sienna there is no escape route when she wakes again
18. Mommy leaves the room
19. Sienna grabs Daddy's face with her talons (she won't let me cut them very often) and/or pinches his neck or cheek until she falls asleep
20. Daddy enters the living room two minutes later with a cocky smile on his face
21. Mommy rolls her eyes
22. Sienna wakes 45 minutes later
23. repeat
